Is your drain sluggish? Want to get rid of odors and clogs? Then surely it’s a time to clear your drainage pipe. Accumulated waste such as hair, food residues etc. on the surface of the drain usually block it. Fortunately, cleaning up a clogged sink is not a difficult job but a little messy.

Presently, there are numerous methods to unclog the drains like treating them with chemicals, white vinegar and even tools like plunger. However, when your plunger fails to unclog a drain one can use an electric snake. This can also be called as an auger.

Below is the working and usage of an electric auger to be used in case you fail to dissolve the clog by above methods.

First things first, start inserting the auger into the pipe. Make sure you wear gloves for this also, better grip, and keeps your hands a little bit cleaner. Electric augers are big with a lot of cable and an auger at the end that goes deep into the drain to unplug the drain.

Just put the tool into the blocked drain pipe and force the obstruction down the drain by hitting it hard. This will ultimately clear the drains.

The head of the auger consists of a corkscrew that gets rotated inside the drain to take out the debris. Make sure, you rotate the corkscrew properly. Slowly pull the snake out of drain. Things may get messy at this point as the clog will might be attached to the head of the snake.

At times, the clog is so hard and stubborn that it does not come out in first attempt. For this, repeat the process multiple times. Once it is cleared, you can use hot water or natural clog cleaners. At last clean the snake.

There are instances when you are unable to clear up the drains, you must admit your failure and go for plumber. They help technically solving the problem quickly and without further damage.
