With some basic gardening skills, you can ensure a successful container garden. Starting with the containers themselves, make sure that any garden pots made from porous materials (such as terracotta or wood) are sealed on the inside with a quality water sealant. Otherwise, the pots will soak up much of the water meant for your plants.
Watering Your Plants
It is just as important not to over water as it is not to underwater. Most garden pots will have a saucer or bowl underneath to catch any extra water and keep it from rotting your patio or deck. The best way to water your container garden is by filling the saucers up with water. This helps you avoid over watering and the water from spilling over the top of the saucer. The water will seep up through the hole in the bottom of the pot feeding the roots of your plants.
Another method of watering is to water your plants at the surface. If you do, however, make sure you fill about a cup at a time and watch how much water ends up in the saucer. You want to avoid overfilling the saucer. Spraying your plants with water from a hand sprayer is always welcome by your houseplants. Try to avoid using hard water though so calcium won’t build up on the leaves.

Every gardener wishes they had a greenhouse no matter how big or small it might be. You can watch the snow pile up and still be able to start seed in preparation for spring and planting of the flower or vegetable garden. Those plants you loose every winter can be safe and sound inside a greenhouse and be ready to come out once the temperatures get more moderate. DIY Greenhouse building is not a hard undertaking. There are many different styles of greenhouse you can purchase and construct that will take you just a few hours to a few days of some work.
Before building a greenhouse there are a few things that have to be addressed. Warm climate greenhouses usually have no need for heating. The sun comes in and heats up the house during the day and keeps it warm enough during the night. What does have to be addressed is shading so that you do not fry your plants when the sun is high in the sky and how to ventilate the greenhouse so they do not smother with the sun’s heat. Cold climate greenhouses have to be concerned with how they should be heated and insulated to keep that cold out during the winter.

Learning the easy ways for how to clean your patio or driveway using a Karcher pressure washer will take minimal time and effort. By following a few steps to prepare for cleaning the surface and using a washer that has a minimum of 3000 PSI, you can clean the area quickly.
Several attachments are included with most washers. If you have a long driveway you may want to purchase a longer hose so you do not have to keep moving the washer. You will need a 15 degree wand. These wands are specifically designed for concrete driveway and patios. When pressure washing a different surface, testing a corner of the driveway first to make sure it will not be damaged will be one of the steps to take before you begin.
The most effective washers are large and powerful machines that look like commercial units. They have 10″ tires and many of the same features found on industrial equipment. Using protective gear with the machines will keep you safe. Protective eye goggles and heavy industrial gloves will keep debris from flying into your eyes and causing injury. The attachments should be secured tightly and tested before increasing the pressure being used.

Today we concentrate on the front door as our main entrance door. We may still have other external doors, but we will use just this one to welcome visitors or check out unknown callers. There may be a back door that’s used to access the garden, but this is often inaccessible from the front in order to deter intruders. External doors other than the front door are often very plain and their main purpose is security.
External doors may mean a lot to us. They mark the point at which we rejoin our own personal space and to can relax away from the outside world.
The choice of external door is important for safety and comfort. It’s a barrier between the inhabitants and the weather, and so when choosing the entrance external door you need to be clear about your home’s particular situation. You’ll need to consider the climate and exposure to the elements. For instance, a front door on a hilly street facing the prevailing wind and without a protective hedge, fence or wall in front of it, will need to be very well finished and completely draught proof. A front door protected by a porch or one which is otherwise sheltered from bad weather may need less in the way of draught excluding.

In order to build your own wooden shed in your backyard, just what skills do you need? Well, this is certainly the perfect project to learn basic carpentry skills if you don’t consider yourself handy with tools. By far, the easiest way is to purchase a precut wooden shed kit. A precut kit comes with instructions and all the pieces necessary to simplify and speed up the process. And because all the pieces are already cut, assembly is as simple as laying the sections out flat on the ground and putting them together.
Building the foundation, setting the walls and putting on the roof can all be done with no help because of the shed’s relatively small size. For example, when you set up the walls, just nail on temporary braces to help you hold them up while you attach them to each other.
You will mostly need a few basic tools to do the job such as, a drill, a hammer, a level, a measuring tape and a saw (it will still be necessary to make a few cuts even though you purchased a precut kit). The tape measure is used to measure the walls for square. To do this, measure the distance of opposite corners (for example, top right and bottom left). Now measure the other two. The measurements will be the same if it is square.
