Testing equipments allow an electrician to gain an edge over the other electricians. Testing tools are used to receive test signals and responses from the electrical devices under test. These responses and signals carry sufficient information to understand the state of a particular electric circuit. Also, the electrician can work on the statistics to generate the roof cause of a particular electrical problem. Such electrical testing tools are described below.
An analog multi-meter is considered quite significant in the regular scheme of things. It is used to measure the voltage, current, resistance, frequency and signal power of a circuit. It can measure electrical potential in volts, current in amperes and resistance in ohms. Common problem of short-circuits can be found with the help of an analog multi-meter.
Also, an advance version of the analog multi meter is available in the market. It is popularly known as a digital multi-meter. Sophisticated design and easy-to-read meter make it useful to unmask any electrical problem. Moreover, the readings obtained from a digital multi meter are quite accurate. Such accuracy provides you an edge over the users of the analog multi-meters. Its quick popularity is accredited to its accuracy, sleekness and ease-of-use.

If you are fed up with the color of your refrigerator then you can render an additional layer of design to the body of your old refrigerator. Though the job appears a bit sophisticated but you can handle it on your own. You would require a little guidance and the right kind of materials to attain success in the concerned task.
First of all, assess the area of the refrigerator that needs to be painted. The back side of the refrigerator should be excluded from the paint-job as the black color complements the operation of the coils. Consider only the front, top and bottom surface of the refrigerator for the required paint-job. Also, take into consideration the amount of paint needed to repaint the refrigerator.
Now, you need to choose a color of your choice for the new paint job of your refrigerator. Go to a reputed local home improvement store and explore the varieties of the paint you want. This paint type is special because it can resist heat and cold without peeling off. Also, the paint comes either in a spray bottle or in a regular box allowing the users to choose their own comfort level.

Solar batteries store the solar energy from the sun inside them to use that energy at a later span of time. Solar batteries get charged through a solar panel. Actually, solar panel charges the internal battery pack that can be used when needed. The market is full of different kinds of solar batteries and panels. Make sure that you get the best quality product at cheapest price.
Also, there are smaller versions out in the market that are used to charge or power up the devices like cell phones, PDA, laptops etc. Most of the batteries provide a universal connector so that you can attach this solar battery with your desired device.
Extra holder (charger) is another feature that many of the devices come along with. Using this holder, you can charge a set of standard Ni-Cad battery of your device and then use it whenever you require. Fit the discharged battery in the holder and place the unit under the sun. Observe your batteries getting charged under the solar power.

Most electrical jobs require a right set of tools complemented by a logical frame of mind. Active and wise homeowners could offer considerable benefit to themselves by saving on the costs of an electrical repair work. The replacement of an electrical wall switch is one such task that calls for minimum expertise and knowledge.
Start off by visiting a local home improvement store or electrical store. Beforehand, it is very important to determine the type and design of the electrical wall switch you want. Misapprehension on that front could prove costly for the structural integrity of the electrical setup. Generally, you can make a selection between the traditional flip switches or the cheaper fancy switches. Whatever be the choice, it should complement the efficiency of your electrical setup.
Arrange the electrical tools that are not available in your tool box. Make sure that all the required tools are sound and working.
Locate the main electrical breaker box or the electric fuse and turn off the power supply of all spaces of the home. Alternatively, you can cut electricity to the affected electrical segment by turning off the respective breaker switch. Often, the backyards of the home remain dark and dim. The homeowners don’t consider the backyard appropriate enough to install beautiful lighting fixtures. On the other hand, some homeowners install dim bulbs that fail to serve the required purpose. The lighting fixtures in your backyard offer two significant advantages. Besides beautifying the area at night, it prevents the home from burglars and thieves. Choose the lighting fixtures that complement the theme of your backyard.
The selection of the lighting fixtures must be made on the basis of your requirement. If the security of the area tops your priority list then choose the lighting fixtures that illuminate a wide area. Support the spread lights with the spots lights or the mini spread lights.
Before you commence the project, check the requirements of the area. Also, analyze the techniques that would be employed in the installation of the lighting fixtures. Use a flashlight to figure out the most appropriate angles for the installation of the chosen lighting fixtures. The beam of the light must be directed towards the ground. Also, two beams could be pooled to enhance the effect of lighting.

In past, you may not have thought much before purchasing your light bulb. Perhaps you have spent a minute deciding between 60 and 90 watts standard bulbs available in the supermarket. But with new technological advances, better energy efficient choices have evolved. Now you have more options than you ever had.
Most famous bulb among all the light bulbs is compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL). It’s the best choice for consumers to switch to energy-efficient light bulbs. By any measure, the CFL bulb is worth all the fuss. Energy star rated CFLs use at least two-thirds less energy than standard incandescent bulbs to provide the same amount of light. These bulbs also last 10 times longer than standard bulbs. They generate 70% less heat, making them safer to use and potentially cutting energy costs from air conditioning.
Due to advancement in features of these bulbs, they can be used at any place where a normal bulb is used means you do not need any special kind of fixture for these bulbs. You can get these bulbs in various colors (warm and cool colors), sizes and patterns. You can install these bulbs inside the home as well as outside the home. These bulbs can easily operate with dimmer and tri-way switches.

Replacing a broken bulb is quite a risky process and you need to take some safety precautions while doing this. The most important thing required to be done is to cut the power supply of that particular fixture. In case you are repairing a bulb of a lamp then remove the plug of the lamp and in case it is a fixture then cut the power from corresponding electrical panel.
Now you need to wear leather gloves in your hands and glasses on your eye. It is must if the bulb has broken on a wall fixture or a ceiling fan. It’s a good practice to wear a hat. Place a trap under the broken fixture that can hold any remaining glass of the broken bulb.
A simple way to clean out the socket from the broken bulb is to use pliers. Pliers should be inserted inside the base. By spacing out the handles, some force can be applied to take out the broken base by moving the pliers anti-clockwise.
With this force the broken base may come out and you need to be careful that you don’t break the fixture during the process. Also, if this process does not work out, use some other alternative. One more is stated below.

Commonly an electrician suffers from back, knees, fingers and hands injuries. An electrician may need to do some things on the job that can lead to pain and discomfort in these areas of their body. Such things are: working in very hot or cold temperatures, staying in the same position for long periods of time, holding vibrating tools, constant pressure from a hard surface on the body, constant moving or twisting of body and using force on your body to perform any task.
An electrician should perform some stretching exercises before going for work to relieve stress in their body and muscles. If you feel pain or discomfort while working then you either need to change the way of your working or the way of using tools.
Fatigues, weakness, loss of energy, swelling, numbness, tingling and aching or burning pain are the frequently occurring problems of an electrician. These problems affect the back, arms, shoulders, knees, hands, fingers and neck of an electrician.
In case an electrician is suffering from any such problem then he should take all the preventive measures as soon as possible. He should inform his boss about the problem and follow the preventive actions.

If you want to connect a ceiling fan then this can be done by you also. You just need to be little attentive while making the connections. Also for connecting different wires, tightly connect the wires and don’t use loose nuts as they make the connection loose. Never leave the connections uncovered and wrap an electric tape around it.
In general you will find 4 wires for attaching your ceiling fan. These wires have different colors (black, white, green and red/blue or black/white striped) and each of this color have its own significance.
Out of four wires, black wire represents the hot lead of the fan whereas red/blue/striped wire represents hot lead of the light kit (optional). White wire represents the neutral lead of ceiling fan as well as light kit and green wire represents the ground wire for whole assembly.
Now as you know the significance of all the wires, you can start connecting these wires. Connect the neutral wire of ceiling fan to neutral wire of home wiring. Some of the ceiling fans have a white wire that is wrapped by a striped tape or a colored tape. Such wires sometimes show that they should be used for some other purpose rather than for making a neutral connection.
