Ignorant homeowners don’t consider the maintenance job of their fixtures an important task. Due to lack of proper maintenance, fixtures start to show irregularities. At this point of time, some of them wake up and hire a professional to undertake the concerned repair work. Such a hefty investment can be avoided if the plumbing setup is maintained properly from the very onset. With few easy and straightforward tips, you can save yourself from all such problems.
Precaution is considered better than cure. Hence, locate the sources of problem and fix them before they lead to major issues. Install stoppers on all your sink drains so that debris, hair, grime and other waste food materials are not allowed to enter the drain pipe. If you are successful in doing so then consider the work half-done. Remember that stoppers work well for the big and moderate sized foreign materials but not for dust and minor particles. Hence, remove the accumulation of dirt and minor particles with your hands or rag only.

Plumbing traps hold quite an importance in the regular scheme of things. Plumbing traps are s-shaped or p-shaped curved pipes that maintain a water-seal along the passage of drainage. The water-seal allows the sewer gases and water to go though it but prevents the backflow of said waste or gases. The water in the seal is maintained by the drainage system that supplies some water to the trap as soon as it diminishes. To remove a clog, uncover the lid of the trap.
The location of the faucet valves and the main valve must be known to all the members of the house. The valves must be turned off before commencing any plumbing project or task. Uninformed homeowners fail to take any appropriate action in case of an emergency. If you are not able to reach out to the main valve during a plumbing emergency then you can turn off the individual faucet valves as well.
